Pre-Session: Positive opening on cards; Q2 earnings,WPI eyed

Domestic bourses are expected to start the day on a positive note today. Investors will today look at corporate results, global cues, rupee's trajectory against the US dollar, and macro data for market direction.

Today, a total of 1,431 companies, including Apollo Hospitals, NBCC, and Bharti Airtel, are scheduled to announce their September quarter numbers.

Traders will also keep a close eye on Rupee's level today after the domestic currency fell to over two-month low and crossed 72 against the US dollar on Wednesday.

Moving ahead, data released yesterday showed that consumer prices rose at 4.6 per cent in October, the fastest rate since June last year. India's WPI inflation data for the month of October will be released today.

Apart from these, telecom stocks will be in focus today after the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) told telecom operators to pay their revenue share dues within three months as directed by the Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, the 30-share benchmark ended at 40116.06 down by -229.02 points or by -0.57 % and then NSE Nifty was at 11840.45 down by -73 points or by -0.61 %.

On the global front, The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 posted record closing highs on Wednesday helped by a big jump in Walt Disney shares, but the Nasdaq fell as stocks were kept in check by fresh uncertainty over U.S.-China trade relations, said a Reuters report.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 92.1 points, or 0.33%, to 27,783.59, the S&P 500 gained 2.2 points, or 0.07%, to 3,094.04 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 3.99 points, or 0.05%, to 8,482.10.

Asian stocks were trading in tight ranges on Thursday. MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 0.01 per cent, Australian shares were up 0.12 per cent, and Japan’s Nikkei stock index fell 0.02 per cent.

Along with this total number of contracts traded in stock futures were 857334 with a total turnover of Rs. 46308.40 Crore. Total numbers of contracts for index options were 17877618 with a total turnover of Rs. 1253208.26 Crore. and total numbers of contracts for stock options were 807944 with a total turnover of Rs. 47412.65 Crore.

The FIIs on 13/11/2019 stood as net buyer in equity and debt. Gross equity purchased stood at Rs. 4891.17 Crore and gross debt purchased stood at Rs. 779.02 Crore, while the gross equity sold stood at Rs. 3311.19 Crore and gross debt sold stood at Rs. 435.66 Crore. Therefore, the net investment of equity and debt reported were Rs. 1579.98 Crore and Rs. 343.36
